Why we request KYC/KYB documents (and what we accept)

Short answer

As a regulated financial service, Oneremit is required to verify the identity of all users and businesses. This process is called KYC (Know Your Customer) for individuals and KYB (Know Your Business) for companies.

Why verification is required

KYC and KYB checks help us comply with Canadian anti-money laundering laws (FINTRAC), protect your account from unauthorized use, prevent fraud and financial crime, and maintain our partnerships with banking and payout networks.

What documents we accept

For individual accounts (KYC):

Government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID card)

Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or government letter dated within 3 months)

For business accounts (KYB):

Business registration or incorporation documents

Proof of business address

Director or authorized signatory identification (government-issued photo ID)

Beneficial ownership information (for companies with multiple shareholders)

Common reasons documents are rejected

Blurry, cropped, or unreadable files

Expired identification documents

Mismatch between the name on the document and the account

Incorrect document type submitted

How long verification takes

Most verifications are completed within one business day after all required documents are submitted. Complex cases may take slightly longer.

When to contact support

Contact support@oneremit.co if you are unsure which documents to submit, your verification has been pending for more than 2 business days, or you received a rejection and need guidance on resubmission.
